Midwives Grey Bruce
has been providing accessible care to a diverse community of childbearing people and their families since 1986. We are skilled practitioners who provide supportive prenatal and postpartum care, attend births and are trained in the detection of abnormalities in you or your baby. Regulated by the College of Midwives of Ontario, we promote and encourage informed choice decision making, choice of birthplace and the practice of evidence-based obstetrics. Midwives Grey Bruce is also a committed teaching practice, providing supervised clinical experiences for midwifery students.
On December 31, 1993, Midwives became regulated under both the Regulated Health Professionals Act and the Midwifery Act. Since legislation, the cost of care for women and newborns has been covered by the Ontario Ministry of Health. Midwives Grey Bruce is pleased to offer this no-cost care to growing families in Grey, Bruce, Huron, North Wellington, and Dufferin counties.
Throughout pregnancy, labour, and six weeks after birth, clients are cared for by a team of Midwives. Midwives are on call 24 hours a day and can provide all the available services for low-risk obstetrics and newborn care. We work closely with other care providers - such as Obstetricians and Paediatricians - and consult with them as needed to ensure the optimal health of child-bearer and baby. The continuity of care offered by Midwives provides clients and their families an opportunity to establish a relationship with their care provider and fosters an environment of non-authoritarian mutual respect.
Midwives Grey Bruce respects that every person’s experience is as unique as the person themselves.
